Pharmacy Consultant
POSITION SUMMARY
The pharmacy consultant is a member of the Grane Rx pharmacy team that works as a liaison between long term care facilities and the pharmacy. The pharmacy consultant works with the pharmacy and facility to develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy related programs through education, customer service, and quality improvement initiatives. The pharmacy consultant promotes pharmacy services in a proactive positive manner while articulating the needs of our customers to pharmacy team members.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The Pharmacy Consultant works extensively with Grane Rx long-term care facility customers on a daily basis to provide education, auditing and support to ensure regulatory compliance and service level commitments. The Pharmacy Consultant also works with internal departments and team members as part of our service level requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supports and educates facility staff in GRx customer settings.
• Customer liaison between facility and pharmacy and billing team members who need resources to fulfill their responsibilities to customer. This would include education and facilitating communication with nursing staff at customer location.
• Possesses or attains a working knowledge of state, federal and other nursing facility or other long term care licensure regulations.
• Possesses or attains a thorough knowledge of nurse practice acts in servicing states for registered and practical nursing and the national standards of practice.
• Develops and maintains relationships with professional long term care organizations.
• Defines, refines and implements quality improvement programs within facilities that evaluate pharmacy service.
• Performs periodic audits in facilities to recognize problems and implement solutions.
• Maintains accurate, timely and comprehensive records of facility activity, performance and improvement.
• Regularly communicates with appropriate facility corporate consultants and
pharmacy management.
• Develops and conducts educational programs related to pharmacy services and IV infusion therapy.
• Participates in the Grane Rx consultant departmental meetings and other operational meetings as directed.
• Responsible for maintaining optimal customer service levels through establishing a working team relationship between the facility staff and pharmacy operations team.
• Assists with marketing and business development initiatives as directed.
• Assists with transitioning and maintaining new business, technology and pharmacy operation initiatives.
• Participates in monitoring medication passes and other functions of the long-term care facility personnel.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school for Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, certified pharmacy technician, or allied health field preferred.
• Licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the servicing states or eligible to meet licensure; CRNI, CNSN, Train the Trainer certification or ANA certificate helpful.
• One or more years of acute or long-term care nursing with emphasis on geriatrics, or long-term care pharmacy experience. Infusion therapy experience preferred.
• Travel for brief periods of time to perform job functions; overnight travel when necessary

• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
• Able to carry 15 to 20 pounds
• Uses good judgment and independent decision-making
• Travel to customer locations to perform job functions; overnight travel when necessary
• Performs effective verbal and written communication skills
• Has ability to be mobile in performing job duties
• Computer literate
